"We offer support and resources that enable individuals we serve to live in their own homes or apartments in the community. Each person receives individualized services tailored to meet their specific needs and desires. As a result, each living situation is unique and is based on what that individual requests".
Our involvement with each person is unique and is created based on individual needs and desires. In most cases, we offer one to one support staffing for each person. Our support may include assistance with household management, financial management, access to transportation options, support to maintain employment as available, and access to healthcare professionals and other community organizations.
Over the years, we have found creative options for people we serve to experience a variety of living situations. Some of those options include living alone, living with a non-disabled housemate or living with a friend or family member. Community based alternatives to overnight staff have been established whenever possible. Some examples include neighbors who are paid a modest stipend to be home overnight and be on call for people who live alone, housemates who provide overnight access to supports when needed, or people we support living with friends or family members who are available for overnight needs.
Supporting individuals in this manner has created a better living situation for most of the people we support. Many people we support have established themselves in the community and have lived in the same place for several years. A few people have even purchased their own homes.

"Individuals who live in our community and are not currently receiving residential services may be eligible for our 'Community Guide' service. Our Community Guides provide guidance and support to assist individuals to connect with a community group, sign up for other available services, learn how to access transportation options, or any other activity the person wishes to explore."
By using resources in the community people are able to meet neighbors and other community members who share the same interest. This philosophy supports natural relationships to develop as well as strengthening the fabric of our communities.
TLC is committed to identifying community involvement for the people we support.
Community Access provides one-one-one services for participants to be active in the community and build relationships with people based on interest. Participant are supported by a TLC Community Access staff to explore their community based on their likes and skills to form friendships with people not served or employed by programs for people with developmental disabilities.
In addition to exploring and supporting community connections, Community Guides supports individuals and families with logistical issues such as advocacy, applications for service and resource and Futures planning.
Community Guides is a free resource for adults with developmental disabilities in Seattle and South King County.

"The option of obtaining viable employment is a fundamental right for all of the people we support, and we are a strong advocate for the realization of that right."
Several of the people we support have traditionally been un-served or under-served in their pursuit of employment options. Total Living Concept has created a partnership with King County to provide the people we support with resources for obtaining employment in their communities.
This partnership between King County and Total Living Concept provides the people we support with planning, development, exploration, placement, and ongoing supports in viable employment situations.
The combined supports available through this partnership provide the people we support with employment options that reflect their interests, talents, and abilities.
The partnership also provides the people we support with the combined supports and knowledge of their supported living team and their employment team and creates a well rounded network to assist them with the development of an employment position.
